Camp Olivas, Pampanga – A 60-year old man with a standing murder case in Zambales court was arrested by authorities on Friday after six years in hiding in a remote village in Barangay Batiawan, Subic, Zambales.
Felimon Duero did not resist arrest when cornered by policemen in his shanty at Sitio Malipano, some 15 kilometers away from Subic town.
Armed with warrant of arrest, the arresting team led by Regional Intelligence Unit 3 (RIU3) and local police there assaulted the supposed hideout of Duero that ended into the fugitive surrender, said BGen Matthew Baccay, the director of Central Luzon police.
He said Duero was arrested on the strength of arrest warrant issued by Judge Richard Paradeza, of Olongapo City Regional Trial Court (RTC) on Oct. 12, 2015 with recommended bail bond amounting to P200,000.
The fugitive, according to police records went into hiding for more than six years after he murdered Domingo Merga sometime on May 13, 2015.
Baccay said policemen got a breakthrough of Duero’s manhunt after residents in the community informed the lawmen of the fugitive’s whereabouts.
Duero was escorted by the police to Olongapo City court after his arrest. He was sent to jail right after he processed at the sala of Judge Paradeza.
“Central Luzon police remain vigilant against wanted persons and other lawless elements of society to ensure the safety of our communities,” said Baccay in a statement.
