Cops seize P2.3-m shabu in Taguig raid

Police busted a suspected drug dealer and seized P2.3 million worth of shabu Tuesday night in Taguig City.

Southern Police District director Brig. Gen. Jimili Macaraeg said the suspect Omie Salik, 24, was arrested by a composite team from Taguig Police Sub-Station 9, Mobile Patrol Unit (MPU) and Taguig Peace and Order Unit (TPOU).

Macaraeg said the team conducted the police operation around 8:15 p.m. along Road 19 Maguindanao Avenue in Barangay New Lower Bicutan. He said the operation is in line with the SPD’s Oplan Galugad anti-crime campaign.

Confiscated from the suspect were 350 grams of shabu valued at P2.3 million; one weighing scale; P5,000 cash, and one black sling bag.

Macaraeg said Salik and the recovered pieces of evidence were brought to Taguig Police-Station Drug Enforcement Unit for proper documentation and proper disposition.

The suspect is now detained pending the filing of criminal charges against him before the city prosecutors office.

Metro Manila police director Maj. Gen. Vicente Danao Jr. commended the composite team under the supervision of Taguig City Police commander Col. Celso Rodriguez for the successful operation.

“The arrest of the drugs personality and confiscation of the large amount of illegal drugs is a great accomplishment on our campaign not only in our region but also in our neighboring provinces. And I commend our team for a job well done,” said Danao.

Authorities vowed that the government’s crackdown on drug dealing in the country will continue with the goal of catching traffickers.

Methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as shabu; marijuana and party drug ecstasy are the top three narcotics distributed in the streets and these prohibited substances are manufactured by Chinese, Taiwanese and Mexican drug syndicates.

Early this month, police busted three members of a family suspected to be involved in drug dealing and seized more than P2 million worth of shabu in Paranaque City.

The suspects—Angela Arichea, alias Angel, 49; Rene Robido, alias Ton, 26, and Razal Doronila, 38—were arrested in a buy-bust operation at Block 8, Lot 7, Scoop Street, Fourth Estate in Barangay San Antonio.
