Kumar recognized with double awards by Asia Leaders Awards

Asia Leaders Awards (ALA) recognized Filipino-Indian businessman Manjinder “James” Kumar with two awards in the recent ALA Awards 2021 held at the Embassy of Singapore in BGC, Taguig last November 11.

ALA is an award-giving body under the Tag Media Group that acknowledges leaders who make a difference in their respective fields while promoting the Philippines as a premier business hub in Asia.

Kumar’s awards are “Philanthropist of the Year,” an honor given to those who are generously aiding cash, goods and services through their own capacity and initiatives; and “CSR Company of the Year” for the non-stock, non-profit organization he’s president-founder of: Filipino Indian Commerce and Welfare Society Inc. (FICWSI).

This is the second year Kumar’s efforts are recognized by ALA. Back in 2020, Kumar received the same set of awards from ALA.

Kumar, through FICWSI, has sponsored a complete homeschooling package for one schoolyear for an orphanage , providing the children laptops, internet, and tutoring. Following this, he also helped renovate the orphanage for better living conditions of its wards.

Kumar has given away thousands of personal protective equipment, face masks, face shields and vitamins to frontliners; bicycles so that workers do not need to commute to work. He has donated hospital beds to frontliners who got sick of Covid, and ambulances to select towns and cities. He’s been sponsoring flight seats to sick children along with their families so they can fly to India to be given much needed surgery and post-operative care.

A partnership with Sts. Peter and Paul Makati allowed for the giving away of livelihood packages to some individuals. A kabuhayan package to one meat reseller got her to kickstart her once abandoned business, while a father who lost his job as a cook was able to carry out a pares-mami business after being provided with a mobile kitchenette.

Other ALA 2021 awardees include DynaQuest Technology Services for Most Innovative Company of the Year; Ronald Macarinas, Man of the Year – Poultry Industry; Siomai King by JC Worldwide Franchise Inc. for Franchise Company of the Year; and Frontrow Philippines president Raymond “RS” Francisco for Covid-19 Hero Award and Most Dynamic Entrepreneur.

Kumar says, “I express my fervent thanks to Asia Leaders Awards committee and its nomination board. I am humbled with these recognitions. ALA’s efforts is a noble way of promoting excellence in leadership and inspiring like-minded capable leaders to do more than what they can in extending help to others especially in this time of the pandemic.”
