Muntinlupa Mayor Jaime Fresnedi on Monday declared his support for Vice President Leni Robredo and her running mate, Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan, in the May 2022 national elections.
“I’m supporting VP Leni for President and Senator Kiko for Vice President, believing that the two of them are worthy to be the leaders of the 110 million Filipinos,” Fresnedi said in a statement.
“They have the sincerity and the competence to serve and lead. We have seen their love of country and love for the Filipinos. What they offer, they do so without reservations. They are offering their services, their lives, their time to serve the people of the Philippines for the next six years,” he added.
For Fresnedi, who is seeking a congressional seat in next year’s elections, what the country needs today is the Robredo-Pangilinan campaign to bring back good governance that prioritizes the people’s welfare especially during the pandemic.
He said Robredo and Pangilinan both have track records that show servant leadership.
“They have both rolled up their sleeves and have been working on the ground to improve the lives of the marginalized Filipinos, especially those burdened by the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic,” he said.
Fresnedi noted that Robredo did not allow the limited budget and resources of the Office of the Vice President to be a hindrance for her to develop and execute pandemic response initiatives.
“Instead of directly coursing donations to the government, some have opted to course it through the OVP because they saw that what Vice President Robredo was doing was correct,” he said.
Muntinlupa City has since collaborated with the OVP’s Metro Laylayan initiative which provides support for urban poor communities.
The OVP also turned over almost P5 million worth of COVID-19 test kits to Muntinlupa to supplement the city’s supply.
