Director Monti Puno Parungao helms a new drama series that tackles an intriguing tale of family and sisterhood. Entitled Las Hermanas, the afternoon soap banks on its cast, and the plot that gives the adage “blood is thicker than water” a whole new different meaning.
The drama stars Yasmien Kurdi, Thea Tolentino, and Faith Da Silva as sisters Dorothy, Minnie, and Scarlet respectively. The series also features the comeback of Albert Martinez as Lorenzo Ilustre, the charming, self-made businessman who will captivate the heart of Scarlet and be the root of the sisters’ falling out.
“Most family series have the same premise, but what’s intriguing about Las Hermanas is how the central characters antagonized each other, and how these siblings caused their being apart,” series director Parungao shared during the program’s virtual press conference.
“What’s also good about this series, there’s no character that is too small. Every character plays an important role in making Las Hermanas family together. Everyone is relatable,” Parungao added.
Las Hermanas revolves around the central characters whose lives are turned upside down when their father died and left their family bankrupt. From their ostentatious and glamorous home, they had to move to a fishing village in the province with their mother.
And it’s just the beginning of the story. Another scandal ravages their family when their mother was suddenly arrested for several counts of estafa.
Lost and still grieving, the three sisters will try to take matters into their own hands. But their personalities and dreams clash and one unfortunate incident follows another. Suddenly, sacrifices have to be made and not all of them are willing to make it.
Joining them is a powerhouse cast composed of Jason Abalos, Jennica Garcia, Lucho Ayala, Madeleine Nicolas, and Melissa Mendez.
Also portraying very special roles in the series are Rita Avila and Leandro Baldemor. Completing the cast are Rubi Rubi, Robert Ortega, Orlando Sol, and Coleen Paz.
Las Hermanas begins telecast today and airs weekdays after Eat Bulaga on GMA Afternoon Prime.
