Laguna 3rd District Rep. Sol Aragones has filed her certificate of candidacy for governor, with Jericho Ejercito, son of actor and former Laguna governor ER Ejercito, as her running mate.
Aragones formally announced last Thursday that she will run for governor of Laguna against incumbent Ramil Hernandez, who is gunning for a third and last term.
Aragones said she will push to enhance healthcare, tourism and agriculture in Laguna if elected governor. She also vowed a social pension for senior citizens.
The former ABS-CBN reporter and anchor is running under Nacionalista Party (NP) and Ejercito is under Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP).
Aragones has served three terms in Congress and said she now wants to serve the entire province, through her flagship program "Alagang Sol."
The lawmaker said she plans to put up a dialysis center and tertiary hospitals in every district of Laguna, and give priority to medical frontliners, persons with disability and senior citizens.
Aragones also vowed to help solo parents, whether male or female, get better jobs to support their children, who would also get more educational assistance.
"We will give importance to every sector of our province. We will announce our platform in the coming days," said the 13-year veteran of ABS-CBN, where she was a reporter, anchor and host.
In the 18th Congress, Aragones was Chairman of the Committee on Tourism and was the main author of the National ID system bill. She also authored a bill on Universal Social Pension for the extra benefit of senior citizens.
