Jack Animam, playing as a Filipina import, debuted with a bang in leading RadniÄki to a close 78-77 triumph over Proleter 023 in the opening game of 2021-22 First Women’s Basketball League of Serbia on Saturday evening at SBB Hala Jezero in Kragujevac, Serbia.
The former National University star struck with 20 points on 8-of-11 shooting, to go with 14 rebounds, two steals, two blocks and an assist.
With RadniÄki holding on to a slim lead with 27 ticks left, Animam cleaned up her teammate Andrea Glomazić’s miss with a layup that gave her team a six-point cushion, 76-71.
This proved handy for Radnicki, as Tijana Cukić fired a triple afterward to keep Proleter in the thick of the fight, 74-76.
But Radnicki kept its advantage and moved ahead after Glomazić scored with two charities in the next play.
Milica Inđić added 18 points, seven assists, and three steals for Radnicki, while Marijana Stojanović shot 11 points from off the bench.
Animam and Radnicki will seek their second straight win when they face defending champ Crvena Zvezda next Saturday. Peter Atencio
