Musician Nick Vera Perez has released a new album, his follow up to the record I Am Ready, which earned him a "Best New Male Recording Artist" nomination at PMPC’s Star Award for Music in 2018.
On Sept. 1, the US based artist’s NVP 1.0 NVP 1’s More was released and made available for streaming on numerous digital platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes, and Google Play.
The album, which has 12 original tracks, was recorded at the CRC Legendary Sound. It's the same studio where some of the biggest stars like Michael Jackson, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Chance The Rapper, and Boyz 2 Men, to name a few, prerecorded their songs.
“The songs in the album are a hybrid of English and Filipino and mostly about love. But the twist is, the album is a combination of numerous genres,” Nick shared in a Kumu interview.
The second album draws inspiration from a revolutionary combination of many genres like rock, ballad, easy listening, contemporary, R&B, jazz, and pop all intertwined.
“This album is more attractive than the first one. It’s all original songs of Adonis Tabanda,” he said.
“I contracted him for 10 albums, so we are now working on album 3. Album 4, will have five songs,” he added.
Nick revealed that releasing a total of 10 albums has been his dream and once they are complete the singer would retire.
“Music is my first love. I became a nurse at the request of my parents. I gave in to their wishes, that’s why I became a nurse. At the same time, I love helping people. I lasted many years at the intensive care unit (ICU). I guess my calling is to help others,” Nick, who is also a registered nurse, admitted.
Music plays a big part in Nick’s journey as an artist during the pandemic.
“I believe that everything you say, everything you sing, has a direct effect on your mental condition and wellbeing,” he ended.
