Radius Telecoms Inc., a wholly-owned unit of Manila Electric Co., said Thursday it expects to reach at least two million homes passed over the next two to three years at it aggressively expands its fiber optic footprint nationwide.
“We’ve been doing our expansion in Metro Manila mostly on the last mile. Our capacity should be able to reach around 500,000 subscribers this year and our expansion continues,” Jenevi De La Paz, chief operating officer of Radius, said in a virtual press briefing.
“Over the next two to three years, we should be able to at least get around one million to two million homes passed. We are still very small compared to most of our competitors,” he said.
Radius, with more than 5,000 kilometers of fiber optic cable deployed, extends across the Mega Manila area, Clark and Cebu and plans to expand in other major cities in the Visayas and Mindanao by 2021. “We are expanding our coverage outside the Meralco franchise areas. We should be in Batangas in the third quarter of the year and we are looking at Bacolod and Iloilo towards the end of the year,” De La Paz said.
