Television actor Mike Tan revealed that staying home during the pandemic and spending more time with his family made him realize a few things, even rediscovering himself as someone who can learn from the youngsters.
In a recent virtual interview, Mike admitted that he became a domesticated dad to his lovely angels Victoria who is two years old, and Priscilla, one.
“I didn’t envision myself taking care of my kids and changing their diapers. But I discovered that even if it’s hard to do daddy duties, I have the patience for it. I didn’t know that I could do it but I believed in myself that I could,” Mike told Manila Standard Entertainment during the virtual junket.
“I was confident enough. It’s because before I got married, everything was planned. I was ready in all aspects: emotionally, spiritually, and financially. That definitely made things easier,” he added.
Since he decided to be a hands-on father, Mike had to give up some activities he used to do when he was still single.
“When you’re already a dad, your children will be your top priority. It helped me to become more mature. I gave up the time I have for my workout. Rarely do I engage myself in that stuff these days. Before, I had all the time. Then, there’s aquathlon which I also had to let go. It’s a combination of running and swimming. It used to be one of my favorite activities when I was still single. I’m also a gamer so I had to give that up, too,” he shared.
Despite not being able to enjoy the activities he used to enjoy, Mike definitely has no regrets.
“My sacrifices are all worth it. The quality times you spend with your kids especially in their growing up stage are priceless. You can’t have it back.”
On the professional side, the appealing actor will be seen next in the GMA soap Nagbabagang Luha.
“It’s directed by Ricky Davao. Here, I share stellar billing with Glaiza de Castro, Rayver Cruz, and Claire Castro. It’s a reboot of the ‘80s drama classic with the same title which starred Lorna Tolentino, Gabby Concepcion, and Alice Dixson. Hope the viewers will love our version,” ended Mike.
