The road to dry hands is paved with overzealous washing using harsh products.
“We want to draw a line between squeaky plate and squeaky clean hands,” said Star Estacio, referring to skin friction, like the squeak of a clean dish, that others consider to be the measure of cleanliness.
Squeaky clean is not an issue per se, but, Estacio said, “it can lead to dry and cracked hands. And cracked hands can lead to infection.”
Estacio, the general manager for food and personal care BU of Consumer Care Products, Inc. (CCPI), introduced on a Zoom launch the new Dr. Coco Natural Hand Soap, which brings together cleansing and nourishing properties in one natural formulation.
According to CCPI marketing lead Mario Garcia, Dr. Coco is so natural, 100 percent of its ingredients are nature-derived, with 91 percent coming from Philippine coconuts.
“Dr. Coco is clinically proven to kill – not just remove – 99.99 percent of bacteria and viruses,” said Garcia. But it does so not with harsh cleansers but with CocoMCT (medium chain triglycerides) from coconut oil.
With MCT as the major component of the hand soap, it cleanses with its antibacterial and antiviral properties while acting as a natural moisturizer compatible with the natural lipids in the hands. “You don’t have to choose whether you want your hands to be extra clean or extra cared for,” emphasized Estacio.
The cleansing extends after washing, Estacio said, as the CocoMCT leaves a thin film that acts as a barrier “that is clinically proven to protect the hands up to four hours after you rinse”. Hence, instead of a squeaky feel, hands are noticeably soft and slippery after washing with Dr. Coco.
Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach, who also washed her hands until they were clean and dry at the beginning of the pandemic, said she noticed a difference after trying out Dr. Coco as part of her duties as the hand soap’s global brand ambassador.
“Even if you wash your hands multiple times a day, it’s not drying,” she shared, adding, “It’s like applying lotion while you wash. Plus, the scents are world-class!” Dr. Coco comes in lavender and green tea variants.
The hand soap is now available at Mercury Drug, Watsons, Landmark, South Supermarket, Unimart, and online through Shopee and Lazada.
