Reaching out to cancer patients is something that Louie Sangalang looks forward to.
Sangalang expressed his desire to be of help to cancer survivors after he recently made it to the finals of The Apprentice:ONE Championship Edition.
The 43-year-old Sangalang signed up to help out with LOVE, NILS, an international organization that supports children with cancer and their caregivers.
The other finalist, Venezuelan sales director Jessica Ramella helped Sangalang in developing a mobile application that will help children with cancer through LOVE, NILS.
The two developed a chatbot using Twilio technology to provide emotional and social support to the patients and their families and also interact with prospective donors.
Twilio is an American cloud communications platform that facilitates communication functions across various channels.
“What amazed me about the business challenge is the fact that when Jessica and I created the product, it allows a cancer patient to be able to reach out directly to a care counselor, which LOVE, NILS provides. And that to me is such an immediate response in this situation, right? Kids are scared that adoptive parents or other people would want to reach out to someone and you know, it’s amazing how technology just gets us connected together,” said Sangalang.
The chatbot will help the patients and parents connect with each other and the donors themselves.
