ONE Heavyweight World Champion Brandon “The Truth” Vera will watch closely when ONE Championship rolls out the previously recorded ONE: FISTS OF FURY II set for this Friday, March 5.
It will be a night of heavy hitters at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. The card is bannered by the highly anticipated debut of Iranian heavyweight sensation Amir Aliakbari and unbeaten “Mighty Warrior” Kang Ji Won.
In the co-main event, dangerous grappler Alexandre “Bebezao” Machado looks to make it two in a row in the heavyweight division as he takes on undefeated Russian Anatoly “Spartak” Malykhin in the latter’s promotional debut.
With Vera targeting a return this year, the outcome of these matches will certainly have implications on who challenges “The Truth” next.
However, all eyes will be on Aliakbari, a Greco-Wrestling World Champion with a 10-1 record and 70 percent finishing rate.
He made his intentions known the moment he signed with the organization, quickly calling out the longtime division kingpin, saying that he would “smash him brutally.”
Aliakbari then amped up his talk leading to this match in his interview with ONEFC.com, claiming Vera can’t hang with him.
“I have come to the division, to ONE Championship, to be the champion. It is my belt. I’m ready to fight Brandon Vera tomorrow,” Aliakbari said.
“I believe Brandon Vera is not ready to fight me, so I’ve asked ONE Championship to line up fights for me. I want the title. I want the championship belt.”
Now he has a chance to back it all up when the Circle door closes and he stands toe-to-toe with Kang, who had a debut to remember when he scored a first round come-from-behind TKO win over Mehdi Barghi last February.
Watch the previously recorded ONE: FISTS OF FURY II on One Sports and One Sports+ at 8:30 p.m. It will also air on the ONE Super App at the same time.
Also, TV5 will air the show on a next-day delay at 11 p.m. PHT on Saturday, March 6.
