The pandemic-halted Binibining Pilipinas 2020 has resumed as announced by BPCI Chairperson Madam Stella Marquez-Araneta with its official forty beautiful and empowered candidates competing for the coveted Binibining Pilipinas-International title and four other major titles at stake.
A force to be reckoned with is 26-year-old businesswoman Vianca Louise Marcelo who is eyeing the right to represent the country at her favorite Miss International pageant. A holder of a degree in Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Institutional Management at College of Saint Benilde, Marcelo is not a newbie in pageants having competed in Miss World Philippines in 2015 where she ended up as one of the semi-finalists and a winner of the Best in Talent award.
“I can’t wait to show off want I can do, whether on live or virtual stage for the preliminary and the final competition of Bb. Pilipinas happening on April 17,” Marcelo said.
She was seen at the national costume exhibit at Gateway Mall, the first activity of the annual pageant after being sidelined during the community-wide lockdown in March last year. She takes pride in her mythical Sarimanok-inspired national costume created by Paulo Blanco, an elaborate yellow-bejeweled Filipiniana that represents the color of hope and joy adorned with the traditional embroidery art technique called Kadineta that originated from her province of Bocaue, Bulacan.
A former Reyna ng Bulacan and Miss Silka Philippines 2011, Marcelo did not take the COVID-19 general quarantine-imposed measures sitting down as she did her share to help in her community through a daily-feeding program for the people who were going hungry and could not find work at the height of the pandemic. It is also her chosen advocacy platform for the pageant, a campaign for a hunger-free community.
