Pasay goes OT to ensure virus vaccine success

The Pasay City government is working overtime to ensure the success of its citywide COVID-19 vaccination campaign.

In a presentation, Mayor Imelda Rubiano detailed every step they have been taking to prepare for the campaign, which she described as one of the biggest undertakings her administration has embarked on so far.

To ensure their success, Rubiano formed a task force dubbed “VACC to the Future” to spearhead all the activities relative to the vaccination program.

Aside from engaging in a massive information campaign that highlights the importance of vaccination, the local government also drew up a comprehensive plan and roadmap designed before, during, and after the inoculation campaign.

The city government identified the priority groups that must be vaccinated, vaccination sites, the teams that will conduct the vaccination, and specific deployments of each team.

While still waiting for the arrival of the vaccines, city officials are busy in their intervention and prevention initiatives with the “Let’s do the EMI Habit” campaign, which specifically calls the public to ensure the washing of hands, wearing of masks, and implementation of physical distancing.

The local government is also active in detection and contact tracing, which explains why the city has one of the lowest numbers of active and new cases among the major cities in Metro Manila.

Several legislated local laws were also designed to prevent the spread of the deadly virus.

“The Pasay City government also has detailed plans and divided them into several phases that include the floor plans of vaccination sites, process flow, and emergency responses if necessary,” said Mayor Rubiano.
