All stakeholders will get involved in the responsibilities and activities of the newly formed Philippine National Volleyball Federation Ramon “Tats” Suzara said this after he was named head of the national sports association that replaced the Larong Volleyball ng Pilipinas Inc. and the Philippine Volleyball Federation yesterday.
At least five commissions will be formed to make up the backbone of future undertakings of the PNVF.
“I want all stakeholders nationwide to be part of this. This way, all the stakeholders can participate,” said Suzara on Facebook Live after the volleyball polls held at the East Ocean Seafoods Restaurant in Parañaque City.
Suzara, who garnered 31 votes, will lead on an interim basis until new elections are held again next year.
Suzara was unopposed in his bid after fellow organizer Ricky Palou decided to give way to him. He will have former LVPI secretary general Ariel Paredes as chairman.
Arnel Hajan, who is with the Philippine Volleyball Federation representing Mindanao, was named vice president, while Donald Caringal was named secretary general.
Yul Benoso was named treasurer, while Palou was named as member of the board with Anthony Liao, Negros representative Carmela Gamboa, PVF’s Karl Chan, Beach Volleyball Republic’s Charo Soriano, Letran’s Fr. Vic Calvo and Philippine Olympic Committee representative Atty. Wharton Chan.
Among the commissions that will be created will involve events, the national team, the referees, coaches and the para athletes.
Many stakeholders believe that with Suzara on board, peace and cooperation among the many stakeholders in volleyball is just around the corner because of his good relationship with the international federation and the Asian Volleyball Confederation.
The elections took place after the international volleyball federation sought the Philippine Olympic Committee’s assistance.
The POC supervised the proceedings, with secretary general Ed Gastanes leading the three-man election panel.
The polls took place four years after the international body withdrew its recognition of a Philippine federation in 2016.
Since then, the POC had been provisionally recognizing the Larong Volleyball ng Pilipinas, Inc.
