Globe Telecom Inc. has tapped Aboitiz InfraCapital, the infrastructure arm of the Aboitiz Group, to roll out affordable internet in key urban areas in Visayas and Mindanao through the former’s KonekTayo WiFi service.
Formerly known as KapitWiFi, KonekTayo WiFi is a fast and secure community WiFi service that aims to provide households with affordable internet. With KonekTayo WiFi, customers simply need to connect to a KonekTayoWiFi hotspot, purchase a promo and surf all day.
“Our focus is always to serve and empower Filipino families and communities, particularly those with limited resources. KonekTayo WiFi promises the affordability, accessibility, and ease of use that most low-income Filipino homes need,” said Globe president and chief executive Ernest Cu.
“And this partnership with AIC strongly complements our efforts to boost network capacity and coverage through infrastructure in a cost-efficient manner,” he added.
Cosette Canilao, Aboitiz InfraCapital president and chief executive, said her company is pleased to be working with Globe on this innovative project that aims to make the internet accessible to underserved Filipinos in different parts of the country.
