The Department of Public Works and Highways said it is on track to complete by next year the construction of Estrella-Pantaleon Bridge Replacement Project.
“Although temporarily-suspended for two months due to COVID-19, we are now seeing significant progress of this ongoing iconic bridge project,” Public Works Secretary Mark Villar said.
Villar said the bridge is part of the Metro Manila Logistics Improvement Program to ease traffic along EDSA.
The 506-meter bridge, which connects Estrella, Makati City to Barangka Drive, is a world-class bridge financed by a grant by from China. Once completed, it will have four lanes from the previous two lanes and will soon accommodate an average or 50,000 vehicles a day.
“This bridge is one of the many projects that are part of our master plan to decongest EDSA,” Villar said.
