Kapamilya actress Kim Chiu is grateful that despite the shutdown of mother studio and the current pandemic, she still has projects to keep her afloat, so to speak.
Apart from her soap opera Love Thy Woman, which ended on a high note, she dominates the online world with her infamous “Bawal Lumabas” single and a dance cover of ITZY’s “Not Shy,” and has resumed shooting for her latest potboiler U Turn.
“I’m still able to do various things in the midst of the quarantine. Of course, there are things which are prohibited to do during this period but I’m thankful that I’m busy. There’s work, which is very important. I also found time to do things for my YouTube account,” she avers.
After the closure of ABS-CBN, some of its resident stars accepted offers from other networks, like TV 5. A few Kapamilya stars are still being wooed by other networks to sign up as their talents, and Kim was one of those.
“I did receive an offer but because of the fact that the Kapamilya network is still giving me assignments, I opt to remain with them. Well, I still have a contract with them in the first place,” she says adding that some people tell her not to close her doors to the possibility of doing shows for other stations.
“Of course, if you’ll ask me now if I can do it, my answer is a resounding ‘No!’ I just can’t do it. It’s awkward to see yourself appearing in other networks after everything that has happened to your mother studio. It’s a matter of debt of gratitude. ABS-CBN is the reason I have this kind of life now. The house that I go home to, the car that I use…it’s all because of ABS-CBN. I can’t turn my back just like that on my home studio,” she asserts.
Kim admits that 2020 is a challenging and unforgettable year for every Filipino.
