Assistant coach Topex Robinson is taking over the post held by head coach Louie Alas, who was suspended from his job at Phoenix Super LPG Fuelmaster for 15 days.
Robinson will take over in an interim capacity, as team officials anticipate the restart of games in the Philippine Basketball Association.
“We believe in the coach Topex's capacity to lead this team. And we look forward to the Fuel Masters' resurgence as one of the league's exciting contenders,” team officials said in a statement.
Last week, Alas was penalized by the team management when he violated health protocols implemented by the PBA for team practices.
He was said to have committed three infractions when he prematurely entered the court during decontamination.
Majority of the PBA teams have returned to training last week, with only six people allowed per batch — four players, a coach and a health officer.
