Senator Revilla hospitalized for pneumonia

Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr., who tested positive for COVID-19 10 days ago, was rushed to a hospital on Tuesday due to pneumonia, his wife said.

In a Facebook post, Bacoor City Mayor Lanie Mercado-Revilla said that based on the senator’s latest X-ray, he has developed pneumonia and that isolation in a regular facility was no longer ideal.

Revilla is the fourth senator to be infected with the coronavirus. The others who have fully recovered from the respiratory disease are Senate President Pro Tempore Juan Miguel Zubiri, Juan Edgardo Angara and Aquilino Pimentel III.

He tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 last August 9, and was subsequently placed under isolation and observation.

The senator later shared his experience in his fight against COVID-19, where he said how he felt waking up alone and weak.

“Father God please help my husband… Hospital care [is] badly needed. Father we lift him up to you,” Mercado-Revilla also said in her post.

In an interview over radio DWIZ last August 15, Revilla said he was at his “worst” as he experienced chills, sore throat, fluctuating fever and persistent loss of taste and smell, but remained hopeful he would turn out all right.
