Uy said this after she cleared 4.30 meters at the Acadia Invitational in Greenville, North Carolina, UCS Pink Panther to place sixth behind top American pole vault bets Sandi Morris and Katie Nageotte.

Her effort allowed her to surpass the Philippine mark of 4.26 meters she herself set last March 1.

“My competition in Greenville South Carolina was great! It was so much fun and a great atmosphere,” said Uy, who is  expected to move up in the Asian and world rankings following her record-breaking effort.

She is now no. 74th in the world, and no. 6 in Asia.

For her next competition, Uy will see action under Brad Walker.

Her previous mentor, Becky Holliday could not be with her when Uy went into quarantine. And training on her own because of this became quite challenging over the last four months.

“It was tough,” said Uy on her experience during a podcast.

Last March, Uy had 4.26 meters during the KTTCCCA Indoors in Shelbyville, Indiana.

During the 2019 SEA Games, she took the gold medal in record breaking fashion at 4.25 meters.

Since then, Uy has been ranked no. 1 in Southeast, ahead of Alyanna Nicolas and Malaysian Yu Thian Chuah.

Uy is hoping the reach the Olympic entry standard of 4.70 meters, which will put her in the the qualification process for the Tokyo Olympics.
