The TNT Katropa Basketball Team recently provided financial assistance for the fire survivors in Mandaluyong through the PLDT-Smart Foundation.
The team also joined the distribution of hot meals and grocery packs to the families who were currently evacuated at the Nueve De Febrero Elementary School and other evacuation centers in Barangay Addition Hills, Mandaluyong City.
Cagers Kib Montalbo, Jjay Alejandro and Gryann Mendoza were present during the relief activity, joined by Coaches Mark Dickel and Bong Ravena, as well as Team Manager Gabby Cui and Assistant Team Manager Miguel Fernandez.
“We hope that through this relief effort, we are able to bring some joy and comfort to the families whose lives are forever changed by this tragedy. A big thanks to the PLDT-Smart Foundation for giving us an opportunity to be part of this activity,” said PLDT-Smart Assistant Vice President and TNT Katropa Team Manager Gabby Cui.
Earlier this month, a blaze swept through a residential area in Mandaluyong City where 600 families were rendered homeless. 69-year-old Mila Taon Carillo was killed by the fire that hit 200 houses in Correctional Road corner 9 de Febrero in Barangay Addition Hills as reported by the Bureau of Fire Protection.
“Our hearts are with the families affected by this tragedy. As they try to move forward with their lives amid the pandemic, we hope that our gesture enables them to cling to hope especially during this difficult time,” said PSF President Esther Santos.
The PSF organized the relief activity in coordination with Mandaluyong Councilor Charisse Abalos-Vargas. The activity was also done in partnership with Your 200 Pesos, an initiative that aims to feed families affected by the pandemic. It is led by former volleyball star, TV personality and beauty queen Michele Gumabao and Strength and Conditioning Coach Aldo Panlilio. Through this partnership, PSF aims to widen its reach to provide hope and help to more people in need amid the COVID19 pandemic.
