Leni hits netizen for spreading fake news on spoiled food distribution

Vice President Leni Robredo on Tuesday hit a netizen who accused her of distributing spoiled food to medical workers at the Diliman Doctors Hospital in Quezon City.

She vowed to go after her accuser, a certain Phillip, and to those who reposted the allegation on Facebook and Twitter.

She reacted to Facebook post alleging her spokesperson, lawyer Barry Gutierrez, “rushed to the hospital and asked the staff to keep it quiet,” and that he even “offered a cash donation.”

The concerned netizen said the medical facility’s director “refused to meet” the Vice President when she went there the following day.

“This has never happened. I never went to this hospital,” she said, adding Gutierrez “never visited any hospital” since the March 15 lockdown’s imposition.

According to the Vice President, the team that delivered the hot meals donated by private personalities never received any complaints.

She said her accuser “is trying to skip liability with his ‘confirm, if possible’ line.”

“If there was no malice, you should have checked first before posting. You should know that posting fake news makes you criminally liable,” she said.

“We will go after all of them. We will no longer tolerate any of these,” she added.
