A barangay chairman in Caloocan City died on Saturday after he was shot by unidentified armed men, Caloocan City Mayor Oca Malapitan said.
In a Facebook post, Malapitan identified the fatality as Gally Dilao, chairman of Barangay 151.
Citing a police report, Malapitan said Dilao was on his way home and was walking on Progreso Street around 12 a.m. when he was shot by men wearing black face masks who were onboard three motorcycles.
Malapitan said Dilao was close to him even during his term as a congressman. He has ordered the Caloocan Police headed by Police Colonel Dario Menor to investigate the incident and identify the suspects.
Malapitan expressed condolences to Dilao’s family and thanked the late barangay captain for his service.
