INAEC Aviation Corp. helped avert a disruption in the operations of the $4.5-billion Malampaya gas-to-power project by mounting charter flights to and from Palawan for frontliners of Malampaya project operator Shell Philippines Exploration B.V.
INAEC started its charter flights between Manila and Puerto Princesa for SPEX using its Beechcraft Super KingAir 350 aircraft on March 18, two days after regular flights were cancelled following government implementation of the enhanced community quarantine due to the pandemic.
INAEC provides helicopter services to SPEX between Puerto Princesa and the Malampaya platform off Palawan. The Department of Energy allowed energy personnel, including third-party contractors, to travel and perform their work in areas covered by the ECQ.
“With INAEC’s support, the Malampaya Crew was able to mobilize and demobilize safely to and from the platform, allowing the continuous supply of gas to power plants,” Don Paulino, SPEX managing director, said in a statement.
