Negros Occidental police failed to serve the warrant of arrest issued by a municipal trial court against four Yanson siblings who are now reportedly outside the country.
Judge Abraham Bayona of Branch 7 of the Municipal Trial Court of Bacolod City on March 10 issued a warrant of arrest against Emily Yanson, Roy Yanson, Ricardo Yanson Jr., Maria Lourdes Celina Yanson Lopez and their accomplices Jerica Leanne Ramos, Jerina Louise Ramos, Ma. Judy Alcala, PGen. Noli Romana and PCol. Jomil John Trio for alleged grave coercion when they tried to take over the management of Vallacar Transit Inc. from its incumbent president Leo Rey Yanson in July 2019.
Police LtCol. Anthony C. Gantang, officer-in-charge of CIDG-Negros Occidental, reported to the court the said accused were not in their homes, as some of them reportedly went abroad, when the police served the warrant of arrest on May 31 and June 1.
"Thus the warrant of arrest was not implemented and [was] not served," Gantang said in the report.
"In view of the foregoing, it is respectfully recommended that further verification be made with the Bureau of Immigration to confirm if the above-named accused are abroad. Subject warrant of arrest remains in this office until its full implementation."
Judge Bayona authorized the release of the warrant last May 29, 2020.
Bayona said in his order dated May 29, 2020: “The Warrant of Arrest dated March 10, 2020, earlier issued by the Court, is hereby ordered to be released and enforced, for the Court to acquire jurisdiction over the person of all the accused and with that they are all required to post bail as will be required by the Court in the amount of P36,000.00 each as recommended by the office of the City Prosecutor.
“This order is immediately executory and all the accused must post bail within due time and inform the Court of such fact.”
With these developments, Olivia Yanson is making a plea to their lawyers as an officer of the court to advise her children to surrender to the law.
She asked her children to set aside their pride, be humbled and admit to their mistakes.
She added: "Look back at the good things we had as a family. Think of the sacrifices I and your father did to build this Company in order that all of you can live abundantly. Amidst the pandemic afflicting our country, this is the right time to reach out and talk about our differences.
“Do not use other people, social media or newspapers for press releases. Come to me personally because no one can resolve this except us. Let us talk as a family. I am willing to listen. I am and will always be your mother."
