DOJ defers arraignment of teacher Mas

The arraignment and pre-trial of teacher Ronnel Mas who allegedly offered a P50-million reward to anyone who could kill President Duterte has been deferred to June 25, the Department of Justice said on Thursday.

Prosecutor General Benedicto Malcontento, head of the DOJ’s National Prosecution Service, said that the arraignment and pre-trial of the 25-year-old Mas was supposed to have been held yesterday (May 28), but was rescheduled to next month due to a pending motion to quash filed by the accused.

“The arraignment and pre-trial on inciting to sedition in relation to the anti-cybercrime law of Mas was “reset to June 25. Accused filed a Motion to Quash,” Malcontento said in a text message to reporters.

The case against Mas was filed before Judge Richard Paradeza, of the Olongapo City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 72, who allowed him temporary liberty after posting a P72,000 bail. Rey E. Requejo
