Malolos City—Mayor Joni Villanueva-Tugna of Bocaue, Bulacan passed away Thursday.
She died at the St. Luke’s Hospital at Global City in Taguig.

The mayor is the younger sister of Senator Joel Villanueva. Her husband is former Cibac party-list Rep. Sherwin Tugna.
"The PDP-Laban offers its condolences, sympathies, and prayers for our beloved partymate Mayor Joni Villanueva-Tugna. She has always been one of our exemplar local chief executives as evidenced by her dynamic leadership in Bocaue, Bulacan,” PDP-Laban Executive Director Ron Munsayac said on Twitter.
In March, Joni's mother, Pastor Dory Villanueva of the Jesus Is Lord movement, also passed away.
Villanueva-Tugna will be succeeded by Bocaue vice mayor Jonjon Santiago.
