“Kalye Confessions,” hosted by volleyball star Cherry Nunag, is the newest segment to watch for on ABS-CBN S+A’s “The Score.”
The segment, which debuted recently, allows volleyball stars to step out of their comfort zone and have a deep and unusual chat about playing the game and anything about life.
The segment’s first two episodes featuring volleyball superstars Alyssa Valdez and Risa Sato are available online on the ABS-CBN Sports Facebook page and YouTube channel, and already garnered hundreds of thousands of views.
In the first episode, Cherry drives around with UAAP legend Alyssa Valdez, who shares the stories behind her iconic final walk and her volleyball stint abroad. She also reveals the fellow players that she idolizes and even opens up about her lovelife with boyfriend and fellow Phenom Kiefer Ravena.
To follow this up, she had her nemesis at the net, Creamline Cool Smashers middle blocker Risa Sato in the second episode. The Filipino-Japanese stunner talks about the struggles she continues to face because of the language barrier, especially after being named as team captain of the NU Lady Bulldogs. She also reveals the Filipino food she has grown to love since moving to the Philippines at 19 years old.
“Kalye Confessions” is the hosting debut of Cherry, who plays middle blocker for the PetroGazz Angels in the Premier Volleyball League. The segment was inspired by another segment in “The Score” called “Extra Rice with Beau Belga.” Just like Beau, Cherry has a charming and relatable personality, and the natural ability to make her guests feel relaxed even if she asks them tough questions.
With the first two episodes being released just less than three weeks ago, the segment already gained popularity among volleyball fans with over 112,000 views on YouTube and more than 280,000 views on the Facebook page of ABS-CBN Sports, the sports arm of the Philippines’ leading media and entertainment company. The segment’s success online is aligned with ABS-CBN’s transition into an agile digital company with the biggest online presence among local media companies and a growing list of digital properties.
Volleyball fans can enjoy “Kalye Confessions” and a wealth of sports content from full games, game highlights, interviews, and features on the ABS-CBN Sports Youtube channel, Facebook page, and iWant. S+A, meanwhile, continues to bring back the best games in various sporting tournaments and episodes of “The Score.”
