State-run Land Bank of the Philippines, the fourth-largest lender in terms of assets, will open 15 new branches this year to bring banking services closer to unbanked and underserved areas in the country.
Bank president and chief executive Cecilia Borromeo said in a statement Wednesday eight of the 15 new branches would be located in Mindanao. LandBank currently has 409 branches and extension offices strategically located nationwide.
The bank is set to officially inaugurate this week two new branches in Pangasinan—one in the municipality of Umingan and the other in the municipality of Mangatarem. The bank is the first and only commercial bank in Umingan serving 79 barangays from the municipality and nearby San Quintin.
