The Department of Agriculture has distributed P32-million worth of additional interventions for hog raisers affected by the African swine fever in Rodriguez, Rizal.
Agriculture Secretary William Dar and DA Regional Director Arnel de Mesa led the distribution of various farm tools, equipment, inputs, livestock, and poultry.
Dar said this is to further help affected raisers recover their losses from ASF by providing them with a sustainable livelihood.
As per record, there were 7,003 hogs culled due to ASF, affecting a total of 711 hog raisers in six barangays of Rodriguez.
One of the initial interventions provided by the department was to give P5,000 to affected raisers for each of their surrendered pig that would be humanely culled.
According to De Mesa, the distribution of interventions is all based on the needs assessment and validation of affected raisers to ensure that the livelihood assistance received by them is the most suitable and sustainable.
