The City Government of Caloocan and its Cultural and Tourism Foundation Inc. (CTFI) has presented to the media 19 lovely and talented ladies hailing from different barangays in the city that will compete for the crown and title as Miss Caloocan 2020.
Caloocan City Mayor Oscar “Oca” Malapitan proudly announced that the reigning Miss Caloocan, Shanon Tampon, is now a Binibining Pilipinas 2020 official candidate, and was a Miss Philippines Earth 2019 runner-up and Miss Bikini Philippines 2019 finalist.
The grand coronation night will be held on March 7 at 6 p.m. at the Caloocan Sports Complex and the entrance is open to the public on a first-come-first-served basis.
“We want to take beauty pageantry to a new level, wherein the winners will not only be the tourism ambassadors of the city, but they will also be our voice in promoting our advocacies and women empowerment,” CTFI Chairwoman Kathleen Mendoza said.
In line with this, the city of Caloocan is already working on several programs for the titleholders to better advocate women empowerment. Some of these programs include seminars on the rights of single mothers and livelihood training for women with disabilities.
Ms. Caloocan’s primary role is to promote the city, its tourism, and the many talents of the people of Caloocan, and the pageant itself has been the avenue for the city to showcase their talent and creativity.
“We have so many amazing talents in Caloocan, and we think that Miss Caloocan is the perfect way for us to exhibit their artistry,” Mendoza said.
