Air Asia Philippines said it will mount flights to General Santos from Clark and Cebu starting March 29 this year.
“Our General Santos flights will provide access to Mindanao, a beautiful region rich in culture and history. I am confident that AirAsia’s announcement of these new flights will contribute to local tourism and the economy,” said AirAsia Philippines chief executive Ricky Isla.
“We are committed to growing our domestic connectivity this year, and you can expect more exciting destinations to be announced later in 2020,” he added.
Air Asia Philippines carried 8.55 million passengers last year, up 25 percent from 6.87 million passengers in 2018.
The budget airline’s load factor stood at 88 percent, up 3 percentage points from 85 percent in 2018.
Air Asia Philippines recorded total passengers of 2.25 million in the fourth quarter, up 21 percent from 1.86 million passengers year-on-year.
Load factor, however, dropped 4 percentage points to 85 percent in 2019 due to the large increase in capacity.
