The University of the East Red Warriors are set to have a new coach following the death of businessman-sportsman Lucio Tan Jr.
Schools officials are tapping Jack Santiago, who was set to step in as head coach yesterday.
Santiago was an assistant coach of the Adamson Falcons, which is being mentored by Franz Pumaren.
He has been with Pumaren’s coaching staff back when he was still with the La Salle Green Archers back in 2007.
School administrators took him into the fold following a meeting last Wednesday.
Last season, the Red Warriors finished with a 4-10 win-loss record.
The Red Warriors will be bannered by Senegalese center Alex Diakhite and guard Harvey Pagsanjan.
Former Malayan High School standout Clint Escamis is said to be coming in.
