The management of Philippine Airlines on Thursday warned the public against unscrupulous individuals engaged in false social media advertising or spreading misleading information.
This was the seventh time since 2017 the PAL management came up with a warning against false advertising posted on Facebook involving airline promotions.
The bogus promo, according to PAL spokesperson Cielo Villaluna, was circulating online luring netizens to reply to several questions in exchange for a chance to win plane tickets.
She said the fake advertisement bore a PAL logo with the phrase “Home in the Sky.”
“We urge everyone not to open the site as doing so will compromise your personal data. Our Information Systems Department has classified it as a phishing site designed to capture personal information,” Villaluna said.
“Please note that the official PAL logo carries the tagline “Heart of the Filipino” and that all official advertisements of the airline are posted at www.philippineairlines.com and the PAL Facebook Page,” she added.
In November last year, the flag carrier came up with the same warning against the fake ad stating: “Its our anniversary: Answer a few questions to get four free tickets to Philippine Airlines.”
“This is a bogus or fake advertisement. Please do not fall prey to this kind of ad. This is obviously the handiwork of those who wish to mislead the public. As we have stated in the past, do not reply to any of these bogus/fake ads as doing so will compromise your data privacy,” said Villaluna.
The same fake PAL promotional advertisement were circulated in 2017 and 2018.
