Book fair

The 2024 Manila International Book Fair (MIBF), the country’s longest-running book fair, opens with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the SMX Convention Center Manila, where it will run from Sept. 11 to 15. This year’s fair, themed ‘Get Lit at MIBF!’, brings together book lovers, authors and industry leaders to celebrate literature and learning. Attending the ceremony are (from left) Tinette Capistrano, vice president of Primetrade Asia Inc.; Honey de Peralta, president of the Overseas Publishers Representatives’ Association of the Philippines (OPRAP); Sr. Reajoy San Luis, president of the Asian Catholic Communicators Inc. (ACCI); Sabrina Ongkiko; Andrea Pasion-Flores, president of the Book Development Association of the Philippines (BDAP); Rep. Toff de Venecia; Irene Lloren, president of Primetrade Asia; Charisse Tugade, executive director of the National Book Development Board (NBDB); Karina Bolasco; Toots Policarpio, executive director of Philippine Educational Publishers Association; Jovita de Jesus, president of the Philippine Booksellers Association of the Philippines (PBAI); and Dante Ang II, chairman of the NBDB.
