Senator Risa Hontiveros on Monday urged fugitive Pastor Apollo Quiboloy to surrender unconditionally, dismissing his demand for a written assurance from President Ferdinand Marcos that he will not be extradited to the United States.
Quiboloy, the founder of the Kingdom Of Jesus Christ (KOJC), has been evading authorities and is wanted for multiple charges, including human trafficking, sex-related crimes, and violence.
He recently stated that he would surrender only if President Marcos guarantees he won’t be handed over to the United States.
Hontiveros, who chairs the Senate committee on women, children, family relations, and gender equality, called Quiboloy’s conditions unacceptable.
“Stop your drama and come out of your hiding place,” the senator told Quiboloy in a statement, urging him to face the accusations and stop using KOJC members as human shields.
Hontiveros said the televangelist must face the charges against him to resolve the legal battles and end the suffering caused by his alleged actions. She added that law enforcement agencies are tirelessly pursuing Quiboloy, whose options for evasion are rapidly diminishing.
“The world of Quiboloy is becoming smaller and not wider,” she said.
The KOJC founder is currently the subject of three arrest warrants in the Philippines—two from local courts and one from the Senate. In addition, he has four pending warrants in the US.
“Once he is included in the ‘red list’ of the Interpol, he will be hunted not only by one or two, but many law enforcement authorities from different countries,” Hontiveros pointed out.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) in Davao continues its search operations for Quiboloy at the KOJC compound in Davao City, convinced that the fugitive preacher is still hiding within its premises, despite the persistent denials of his camp.
