The Guadalupe Bridge along Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (EDSA) in Makati City will undergo rehabilitation starting October 2025.
The outer lanes of the 60-year-old bridge will be closed for repairs by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) after a temporary bridge is constructed.
Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Don Artes said the closure will only affect the two outer lanes outside the red lines, while the inner lanes of EDSA Guadalupe will remain open.
The construction of the temporary bridge is expected to take 10 months, while the overall rehabilitation work will last for 17 months.
The MMDA explained the bridge rehabilitation is necessary due to its vulnerability to seismic activity.
Meanwhile, Artes said the ferry service and other operations related to Pasig River will not be affected by the bridge closure.
