CHLOE Isleta concluded her near-perfect campaign at the Philippine Aquatics, Inc. (PAI) National Trials 25-meter short course with another stellar performance, sweeping her last two events and earning the Most Outstanding Swimmer (MOS) award.
The 26-year-old alumna of Arizona State University dominated the girls’ 100 freestyle and 200 backstroke, clocking times of 56.38 and 2:12.30, respectively, bringing her total gold medal haul to seven in the four-day meet, backed by Speedo, Pocari Sweat, and the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC).
Competing under her own banner, Chloe Swim Club based in Ilocos Sur, Isleta outsprinted Fil-American bet Miranda Renner and Camille Buico in the 100 freestyle.
In the 200 backstroke, she defeated fellow national mainstay and Southeast Asian Games (2023) record holder Xiandi Chua and Mishka Sy.
Isleta’s dominance was evident in her performance, with the exception of the 200 Individual Medley, where she finished second to Chua. She secured victories in the 50 back, 100 back, 50 free, 200 free, and 100 Individual Medley, accumulating a total of 231 points to top the women’s division.
“I’m thrilled with my performance,” said Isleta, who is pursuing a master’s degree in Communication and Media at the De La Salle-Taft. “The extra training I put in over the past weeks has paid off. With more than a month to go before the World Series, we can continue training and prepare.”
The event served as a selection process for members of the Philippine Team who will compete in the World Aquatics World Series (short course) in Shanghai, China, Incheon, South Korea, and Singapore. The series culminates in Budapest, Hungary.
Aside from Isleta, the top 16 female swimmers with the highest scores include Jie Angela Mikaela Talosig, Kyla Louise Bulaga, Micaela Jasmine Mojdeh, Ciandi Chua, Miranda Cristine Renner, Mishka Sy, Trixie Ortiguera, Hannah Sanchez, Riannah Chantelle Coleman, Alyza Ng, Shinloa San Diego, Jindsy Dasion, Jamaica Enriques, and Annika Isip.
In the men’s division, veteran internationalist Jerard Jacinto of FTW Royals topped the list with the highest score, following his victory in the 100 free.
Other top 16 finishers include Anton Paulo Della, Raymund Paloma, Mahmutoglu, Alexander Chua, Miguel Barreto, Robin Domingo, Kyruss Toledo, Geoffrey Liberato, Joshua Pak, Albert Amaro, Jaiden Monroe, Jalil Taguinod, Jennuel Booh De Leon, Joshua Ang, and Rian Tirol.
