Seoul’s bb.q Chicken expands to Manila with new Festival Supermall branch

South Korean food chain bb.q Chicken has launched its newest outlet in Festival Supermall, Alabang. The new store, which brings the unique flavors developed by Genesis BBQ’s Chicken University to Manila, is the 12th outlet in the country.

“When it was founded, the vision of the restaurant was to share the flavors of Korea with the world,” said the program host during the ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Congresswoman Richelle Singson and 4C Salt and Light Food Corp. CEO Carleen Singson. “We’re not just here to open a new location but to share the heritage and culinary legacy of bb.q Chicken.”

Founded in Seoul in 1995, bb.q Chicken is known for its “Best of the Best Quality” (bb.q) approach, combining traditional Korean cooking techniques with modern research. The chicken is hand-brushed, hand-battered, and fried at lower temperatures for a longer time, resulting in a crispy texture. The chain also offers a variety of signature sauces.

Former Ilocos Sur governor Luis “Chavit” Singson, along with his LCS group and Genesis BBQ Group, launched bb.q Chicken in the Philippines a year ago, aiming to make Manila a regional hub for the brand. Singson announced plans to bring Chicken University training to the Philippines, eliminating the need for local staff to travel to Seoul.

“We’re aiming to open 100 branches in the Philippines in the coming years,” Singson said of the restaurant chain’s future in the country.

Globally, bb.q Chicken operates over 3,500 branches. The new Manila location features popular menu items such as hot spicy, secret chicken, Gangnam-style, and Cheesling chicken, alongside tteokbokki platters, salads, and desserts.
