More funding is being sought through the proposed 2025 national budget to ensure that President Marcos’ flagship public service projects continue to deliver government services and reach more Filipinos across the country.
This was the assurance given by House Speaker Martin Romuladez at the launch of the Bagong Pilipinas Service Fair’s (BPSF) Eastern Samar segment in Tacloban City on Friday.
He said that next week, the lower chamber will begin deliberations on the P6.352-trillion national budget that includes allocations for programs and services to help the people.
Romualdez vowed that the House will work tirelessly to ensure more funds are provided for programs and services essential to the BPSF, such as Kadiwa ng Pangulo, Passport on Wheels, Driver’s License registration/assistance, among others.
“Night and day, your Congress will work to speed up and ensure the passage of the budget so that we can help our countrymen even more. This is the New Philippines, this is the new Congress,” he stressed.
Romualdez also reiterated the administration’s commitment to continue the fair nationwide, ensuring that no region is left behind.
The Mega BPSF in Tacloban City managed to draw 241 House members – the highest attendance in a BPSF to date.
The event also saw participation of other ranking government officials, including Sen. Ramon Revilla Jr., Department of Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac, 12 governors, three vice governors, nine mayors, and 16 officials from the Executive Department.
The event distributed P1.26 billion worth of government services to 253,000 beneficiaries across Eastern Visayas, including mini-BPSFs in Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Samar, Southern Leyte, and Biliran.
Romualdez expressed his gratitude to the lawmakers who crossed party lines to attend the event.
