Residents of Silang in Cavite are yearning for the return of former mayor Emilia Lourdes “Omil” Poblete after they were caught in between the controversy of the two incumbent officials of the municipality.
The Silanguenos’ longing for the ex-mayor’s comeback to the helm of the town’s governance was enhanced by her immediate assistance during the recent calamity brought about by Typhoon “Carina.”
A number of residents went to social media in posting their thanks and sentiments and appealing to the former mayor to run again in the coming elections.
“Yan ang tunay na Nanay ng Silang. Hindi nakakalimot (She is the real Mother of Silang. She never forgets),” said a netizen on her social media post.
Many other Silanguenos posted similar messages urging Poblete, whom they fondly called “Nanay Omil” to stage a comeback.
Many residents of Silang are now complaining that because of the political controversy between the suspended mayor and the vice mayor now acting as the town’s mayor, the delivery of the most needed basic services was affected especially during the recent disaster caused by Carina.
“Silang needs a leader who is quick to act, especially in delivering immediate assistance when need arises. And that’s the reason why we are rooting for a Nanay Omil,” another netizen said.
