Government agents at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport intercepted a smuggled parcel containing disposable vapes with cannabis oil from the United States.
The NAIA Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group and Bureau of Customs seized the parcel at the DHL Cargo Warehouse in Pasay City.
The parcel, shipped by a certain Jason from Portland, Oregon, and consigned to a resident of Santa Cruz, Manila, was misdeclared as toys.
However, upon inspection, the authorities discovered that each disposable vape contained 2 ml of cannabis oil, a prohibited item.
The seized parcel was turned over to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency for proper disposal and further investigation. The authorities also seized recently two outbound shipments of methamphetamine hydrochloride, commonly known as shabu, worth more than P2 million, also at the DHL warehouse.
One of the shipments, misdeclared as ‘business documents,’ was shipped by a certain Marbella from Barangay Tunasan, Muntinlupa City, and consigned to a resident in Rome, Italy. The inspection revealed plastic sachets containing shabu, with a total gross weight of 100 grams worth P680,000.
