Bacolod City to roll out new ID system

The Bacolod City Government is set to introduce identification cards (IDs) for members of various sectoral groups in the city. This initiative aims to simplify the process of validating beneficiaries, ensuring that aid distribution becomes more efficient.

Bacolod City Mayor Alfredo Benitez emphasized the need for an official system to accurately identify group members. The details of the ID system will be discussed in an upcoming meeting with 12 sectoral groups.

He noted that the current method of verifying beneficiaries often leads to delays and discrepancies. A more efficient system is essential for Bacolod City, especially when distributing aid from the national government.

The plan emerged after Mayor Benitez observed the prolonged validation process by the City Agriculture Office for 500 residents claiming eligibility for the Presidential Assistance for Fisherfolk and Farmers (PAFF). The verification process is still ongoing, highlighting the need for a streamlined approach.

Additionally, Mayor Benitez considered the complaints from many farmers who felt excluded from the master list at City Hall. These farmers believe they deserve the aid from the president but are currently not listed as beneficiaries.

Mayor Benitez assured the public that the city would implement a proper process and validation assessment to ensure that qualified farmers and fisherfolk receive the aid they are entitled to. Each beneficiary will receive P10,000 from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
