The National Book Development Board (NBDB), the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL), and the National Committee on Intellectual Property Rights (NCIPR) have recently collaborated with artist Manix Abrera to launch the comic book Pirated Inferno.
Aimed towards combating piracy, Pirated Inferno features a series of comical illustrations by Abrera centered on how creatives can protect their works. The comic book was colored by artist Juno Abreu.
Abrera is known as the author of Philippine Daily Inquirer’s Kikomachine Komix and is also a recipient of the National Book Award for his second silent graphic novel, 14.
The IPOPHL is concerned with administering and implementing the State policies about intellectual property while the interagency body NCIPR is focused on the formulation and implementation of plans and policies that will help in protecting and enforcing intellectual property rights.
The NBDB, on the other hand, is responsible for promoting the further development of the country’s book publishing industry.
The official launch for Pirated Inferno was held at the IPOPHL Multipurpose Hall on June 13.
