Take a look at the brand’s smartest hair dryer yet
Women who’ve dyed their hair know that color-treating can wreak absolute havoc on the strands.
But it turns out that using a blow dryer’s cool shot can seal the hair cuticle, leaving it shiny and smooth and protecting it from further damage.
At first glance, the new Dyson Supersonic Nural looks quite similar to the original iteration—and while it is still an energy-conscious, low-heat dryer, the new device is quite promising with the addition of new features.
This super lightweight hair dryer weighs under two pounds and features a motor at the bottom of the handle (unlike most top-heavy hair dryers), making it simple to maneuver and achieve your desired style.
The research team at Dyson, the brand behind the high-tech and stylist-beloved Supersonic, got to work on creating this tool with temperature-control technology.
Packing five intelligent attachments in the box alongside other standalone accessories, the Nural uses invisible sensors to automatically reduce heat settings when the blow dryer gets close to your scalp.
So, while other hair dryers rely on a one-shot function to cool down your hair and seal in the cuticle, Nural never gets hot enough to cause any heat damage in the first place.
Although the infrared light beam that calculates the distance from the dryer to your scalp is invisible, you can see a device in the back of the hair dryer change color based on how close the dryer gets—a blue light indicates that the dryer is close to the scalp, and heat is decreased to its lowest setting, 55 degrees Celsius.
As you move the dryer further away from your scalp and the temperature increases, the color turns yellow, orange, and red, indicating low, medium, and high heat settings.
For those familiar with the Supersonic, the Nural uses the same heat and speed settings as that model and also has the Air Multiplier technology to create a velocity jet of air to dry your hair.
The difference is the automatic adjustment ensures that you’re never using too much heat on your scalp—so the new device is foolproof.
“At Dyson, we’re obsessed with hair, and for 10 years, we’ve been trying to look at hair, research the science behind it, and we wanted to use that research to engineer our technology,” said Dyson senior design engineer Roy Pua at the launch of Supersonic Nural yesterday. “The foundation of a healthy hair is a healthy scalp that’s why we’re proud to bring scalp health to the forefront with the new Supersonic Nura.”
The Supersonic Nural hair dryer retails for P32,900 and is available in two colorways: a purple-and-orange option and a turquoise-and-orange combo.
