Guided by his father, Rene Sr., Rene Catalan Jr, will be pursuing big-money fights in the Universal Reality Combat Championship (URCC) and Dynasty Fight Club events in Pasay City.
“Masaya ako. I am honored na kasama ko siya sa mga laban ko,” said the 19-year-old Rene Jr., also known as Neboy.
Catalan Jr., has already stepped out of his father’s shadow, boasting three wins and two losses in his budding professional career.
The elder Catalan, a seasoned fighter with four world championships, two Asian Games gold medals, and two Southeast Asian Games gold medals, expressed confidence in his son’s abilities.
“Based on experience, I’m confident in him. I’m making sure he reaches the championship,” said Rene Sr., as he prepares his son to compete in the 125-lb category.
URCC founder Alvin Aguilar announced that the series will feature 18 fights daily, including MMA, boxing, kickboxing, and grappling. Discovering the next champions and professional fighters to represent the country in various martial arts is among the main goals of the series, according to Aguilar.
