Ex-beauty queen graces PAF’s gender, dev’t forum

The renowned actress and former beauty queen Pilar Pilapil, along with other female speakers, shared their experiences as mothers and career women at a Gender and Development Forum spearheaded by the Office of Air Force Gender and Development on May 29, at the Villamor Air Base, Pasay City.

The speakers recounted their journeys in overcoming challenges in womanhood and motherhood, and life in general to the Philippine Air Force personnel, who attended both physically and virtually.

Joining Pilapil were Karen De Leon-Galiste, project development officer of DSWD; Col. Ma Consuelo Castillo, PAF spokesperson and the first female pilot of the 205th Tactical Helicopter Wing; and Col. Rudith Vivienne Villanueva, chief nurse of the PAF.

Mrs. Agnes Parreño, wife of the PAF commanding general, attended the forum as the guest of honor.

She emphasized the importance of women supporting each other to create a society where they are valued, respected, and have opportunities to thrive.

She added that empowerment starts with recognizing one’s strengths and bravely facing challenges. Attendees received a variety of health and wellness products and services after the forum.

The PAF remains a committed advocate and supporter of gender equality and women’s empowerment, embodying its dedication through various initiatives, such as this activity.
