Escudero calms Heart, who finds herself ‘panicking’ over new role in the Senate

Socialite and actress Heart Evangelista said she panicked and cried a bit when she realized she would automatically become the president of the Senate Spouses Foundation, Inc. after her husband, Sen. Francis Escudero, was elected 25th Senate President of the Philippines.

Evangelista said she felt she was not capable of doing the job. “But she is willing and ready,” according to Escudero in a recent news conference.

The seasoned politician out of Sorsogon advised his wife not to feel any pressure and just do what she can. He told her to ask for a “briefing” from those who know the job.

For what it’s worth, Escudero said he told Heart that despite being a lawmaker for several years, he, too, feels like a neophyte in his new job as Senate President. He also asked for briefings on the things he should do.

He noted that the workload of Heart will not be heavy as the group’s activities are done on a quarterly basis and on Christmas.

Evangelista will meet next week with the wives of other senators to talk about their projects.

She had already met some of them when they went to a dinner in Malacañang last Tuesday on the invitation of President Marcos and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos.

The Senate Spouses Foundation, Inc. usually conducts outreach programs and relief missions.
